What is compression and why do we use it?
Compression is the process of reducing the size of a file by encoding its data info more efficiently. We use this process in order to reduce the number of bits so that our file size is smaller and can be transmitted faster. Smaller space is required for downloading.
What is the difference between lossy and lossless compression?
Lossless and lossy compression are terms that describe whether or not, in the compression
of a file, all original data can be recovered when the file is uncompressed. With lossless compression, every single bit of data that was originally in the file remains after the file is uncompressed. All of the information is completely restored.
